A photovoltaic module is a semiconductor device that converts sunlight into electricity by a process known as the photovoltaic effect. Our solar module has an area of approximately 1,245mm x 635mm, weighs approximately 14 kg and has an average stabilized power output of 40 watts. Our photovoltaic module is a double-junction thin film structure that employs amorphous silicon as the semiconductor material to provide the photovoltaic effect. In this structure, the amorphous silicon-based diodes are stacked together and sandwiched between a transparent front conductor and a metallic back conductor, and all of the layers are deposited on a glass substrate.
Unlike traditional crystalline silicon solar modules, our thin film amorphous silicon modules are able to deliver competitive power output using significantly less semiconductor material and can therefore be manufactured at a relatively low cost per watt. Amorphous silicon modules also perform well in non-optimal environments, such as in hot temperatures or with low light. In addition, at the request of our customers, we can use a variety of transparent back conductors in our modules which then can be integrated into buildings as attractive facades.
